RCSI Memorial Service for the Generous

Venue: Unitarian Church
Date: March 11th
Time: 3pm

One more Thing i should have written on, long ago.
March 11th, RCSI organised its Memorial Service for the ever so kind Irish whom have donated their bodies for Medical Education. This wonderful service takes place once in every two years. So, for PMC students like me, this would be the Only opportunity. I didnt let go of the chance to thank those who donated, i volunteered to help out for the Service. I was to carry a candle of remembrance as those who were to recite the prayer and give thank you words walked to the podium. With me, i had two other first meds, Kash and Karim, whom were doing the readings. I was to lead them, and then place the candle on the table infront. Simple it may seem, but i was nervous to get things right. Perfectly Right. No slip ups were allowed as it seemed like a big event for the college and especially the Chaplaincy team. I think i did allright.

There were alot of relatives of the generous ones who donated their bodies whom were invited and that turned up for the service, so it was a big day. There were readings from many religions from their holy books and so on.

After the service, the Chaplaincy team came personally to the volunteers and said "thank you, well done". I even got the comment "you were good!" from one of the chaplains. And a thumbs up as i put the candle down on the table and took my seat. They are just very nice ppl, sadly, i dont know their names... :(
Have had numerous other encounters with them, then on, and they have been saying very nice words, and i enjoy my conversations with them, eventhough it may just be a sentance or two.

After international night, they came up to me and congratulated, praised and pat my back for a fantastic performance, and ofcourse, said very nice things. "you dance very well!!!!! oh gosh, you're good! how long did it take you to learn??" *with a wide happy surprised smile on their faces* There were two of them, both approached me individually, then they came together... It was nice hearing compliments from them.

Then we headed to college and entered it via the main college doors (the Traditional One, for the first and Only time. As we are not allowed to use it. Its only open on Memorial Service days...) Went to the College Boardroom for Refreshments (huge delicious cookies and tea/coffee/milk). Theres where we volunteers, and other students who attended the afternoon service had a chance to speak to the relatives of those who had donated their bodies. Some spoke on their Mums will to donate the body to RCSI, some on ireland, there was this one person who cried while speaking to a friend of mine, and some just spoke on Malaysia. It was a good chat i had with a few ppl. Didnt last long, but it was a nice evening.

Just down the corner from college, Unitarian Church, where the Memorial Service was held. A peaceful pleasant evening...

Headed to Dance practice immediately after that. Rushed home then for intense dance because the following day was International Night. Needed to be perfect.

One Life, One Love, Enjoy Every Bit of it.
